Joanna Ashe, Gabriel Bodard, Simona Stoyanova, Valeria Vitale (ICS) & Jennifer Baird (Birkbeck)

Digital Classicist London seminar 2018

Friday June 22nd at 16:30, in room 234, Senate House, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU

This session will be an interactive workshop and will not be livecast.

This workshop aims to explore multiple perspectives on and approaches to the archive of Robert “Palmyra” Wood—in the process of being digitized by the ICS Library and with the potential to cast light on early archaeological exploration of the Middle East. We invite the audience to annotate sample pages from the travel notebooks, with a view to (1) capturing the materiality of the archive; (2) exploring free-form community annotation of entities such as places, people, monuments, administration; (3) thinking about how annotation can be used as a research tool and model for other collections of this kind.

ALL WELCOME
